The Weather Watcher

The village asked Ron to record the weather each morning. He bought a notebook, a rain gauge and a proper thermometer.

On Monday he predicted sunshine. An hour later it rained. On Tuesday he predicted rain and the sky stayed clear. By Friday no one trusted the notebook.

Then Nora noticed a pattern. Every time Ron washed his car, clouds arrived before the soap dried.

“Could you tell us when you plan to wash it?” she asked.

“I already do,” said Ron, pointing to the forecast he had pinned up. “That’s what I mean by a twenty-percent chance of rain.”
