The Travel Postcard

Grandma promised to send her granddaughter a postcard from every stop on her train holiday. The first arrived on Monday. It showed mountains. The second arrived Tuesday with a seaside view. By Wednesday she had three cards and Grandma still hadn’t called.

When she finally rang, her granddaughter asked which place she liked best.

‘The station at home,’ Grandma said.

‘But you sent cards from all over the country!’

‘I bought them at the station gift shop before I left. The train was cancelled, so Grandpa and I took a quiet holiday at home. If your parents think we’re away, they won’t ask us to babysit.’
