The Portable Village Map

The village bought a new map with a large red arrow marked YOU ARE HERE.

On Monday the caretaker placed it outside the station. On Tuesday he moved it beside the market. By Wednesday it was at the town hall.

A tourist had followed the arrow across the square three times before finding him. “This map keeps telling me I’m somewhere different.”

The caretaker straightened its frame. “That’s because I keep moving it.”

“Then how am I supposed to find the museum?”

“Easy,” said the caretaker. “Stay where you are. I’ll bring the map to it.”
