The Parking Garage Arrow

A parking garage painted a large arrow toward the exit. By lunchtime, cars were circling the same level.

The attendant watched one driver follow the arrow into a dead end, turn around, and follow it again.

“The exit is downstairs,” he called.

“Then why does the arrow point here?” the driver asked.

The attendant walked over. A painter had added the arrow that morning. His ladder stood where the arrow ended.

“He was marking where to bring the paint,” the attendant said.

The driver looked at the queue behind him. “He’s made sure everyone sees it.”
