The Museum’s Quiet Room

A museum opened a quiet room for visitors who needed a break. On the first day, the attendant found a man standing in the doorway, reading the sign.

“Is this where I’m supposed to be quiet?” he whispered.

“Inside, yes,” she said.

He entered, sat down, and took a notebook from his pocket. After five minutes he beckoned her over.

“Can I ask a question out there?”

They stepped into the corridor. “What is it?” she asked.

“Where is the exhibit?”

“This is a place to rest.”

“Oh,” he said. “I’ve been taking notes on the empty chair.”
