Ben went to the bakery to order a cake for his wedding anniversary.
‘What date would you like on it?’ the baker asked.
Ben looked at the calendar behind her. ‘Just write Happy Anniversary.’
‘Would you like your names underneath?’
‘Better leave those off too.’
The baker put down her pen. ‘Sir, is there anything you’re certain about?’
‘Absolutely. My wife loves chocolate cake.’
‘Then why all the empty space?’
Ben lowered his voice. ‘I know our anniversary is this week. If I turn up a day early, I’m thoughtful. If I turn up a day late, I’m in trouble. I don’t want the icing to testify against me.’
