They say dogs and kids have a unique bond, one that doesn’t compare to anything else. And guess what? They’re completely right!
One of the reasons is that dogs themselves are kid-like furballs, making it easy to establish such a sweet bond with their hooman counterparts.
When a little girl and her mom saw the post about Scratchy, a sweet, mangy, euthanasia-listed puppy, they decided to do something about it. The girl, who got deeply invested in Scratchy’s case, hoped this four-legged boy would someday have a life he truly deserved.
Just a few weeks later, things got even better: Scratchy came into her home!
The Wish That Became Reality
Scratchy’s name appeared on the euthanasia list at no fault of his own. Being at an overcrowded shelter in Texas, this pup with a severe skin condition was facing his inevitable fate, all due to his medical condition.
“He came to us from a partner shelter, where he was on the euthanasia list because of his medical condition,” Three Little Pitties Rescue, the Texas rescue, shared in the post.
Michelle and her daughter, who stumbled upon the post describing Scratchy’s situation, were utterly heartbroken. The girl desperately wanted to save this sweet pup and kept asking her mom every day about his case.
Michelle, who didn’t know Scratchy’s exact location at the time, decided to do something about it. She searched high and low for days, hoping to find a new update about the dog.
Ultimately, she finally learned that Scratchy was saved by Three Little Pitties Rescue and was looking for a foster home.
Michelle didn’t think twice. She immediately applied to foster Scratchy, preparing the sweetest surprise for her little girl.
One day, as her daughter was arriving home from school, someone tiny was waiting for her in the living room!
In the video, the girl is shown crying happy tears as she spots Scratchy, the dog she’s been wondering about for days.
“Pure, deep, love at first sight. A little girl who worried and cared so deeply all week about a little mangy dog. And her sense of relief getting to hold him,” TLPR wrote in a video description.
There were tears of joy everywhere! Scratchy, once a euthanasia-listed pup, was finally in the girl’s home. And she couldn’t be happier!
Scratchy Is Thriving
It took Scratchy only a few days to come out of his shell. Thanks to Michelle’s entire family, he’s been living like a king ever since he arrived.
Scratchy’s skin is slowly healing, and he’s already picked up some new skills.
“This little guy was once out of time, but now he’s safe, and continuing to steal hearts every day. He’s crate trained, a certified cuddle bug, and totally rocking the doggy fashion scene (he loves wearing clothes!),” the Texas rescue shared in another Instagram update.
So far, his all-time favorite activities are playing with a ball and receiving cuddles from his foster family.
It turns out, fostering Scratchy was the best decision possible for Michelle and her family. The pup got a second chance at life and couldn’t be more grateful. On the other hand, Michelle, her husband, and the kids got a new addition to the family.
