Maya asked her son to put price stickers on the furniture at their yard sale. When she came back, the old lamp was five pounds, the bookshelf was ten, and Dad’s favourite armchair had a sticker marked FREE.
‘Why is the chair free?’ she asked.
‘Dad says it belongs to him,’ her son said. ‘But the dog sleeps in it every day.’
Dad appeared at the door. ‘Take that sticker off. I use that chair on Sundays.’
His son looked at the dog curled up on the cushion. ‘Then the chair’s free,’ he said. ‘The tenant comes with it.’
