Arthur’s parcel tracker said his delivery was eight stops away.
An hour later, it was three stops away, then twelve.
Arthur watched the van pass his house twice.
When the driver finally knocked, Arthur asked about the strange route.
Arthur had ordered a new door mat.
The delivery message arrived at breakfast. Your parcel is eight stops away.
Arthur opened the map. A little van moved along the next street.
He made coffee and checked again. Six stops.
He put on his shoes. Four stops.
He stood by the front window. Three stops.
Then the number changed to twelve.
Arthur refreshed the page. The van had crossed the main road and was heading away.
Twenty minutes later, it returned and passed his house.
Arthur waved. The driver waved back.
The map said seven stops.
Arthur moved to the kitchen window when the van went behind the house. He moved upstairs when it turned toward the hill.
By lunchtime, he had followed the van from four different windows and the garden gate.
At last, the driver knocked.
Arthur opened the door before the second knock.
Why did you pass my house twice?
The driver handed him the parcel.
I was waiting for you to stay in one place long enough for the tracker to find you.
