Maya ordered lunch on the restaurant tablet.
Before she chose a meal, it suggested her usual fries and extra sauce.
She told her friend the machine knew her too well.
Then it flashed, Would you like to pretend to view the salads first?….
Maya quickly opened the salad page and studied every picture. She wanted to prove that people could change.
The tablet displayed a small timer marked Healthy Decision Performance.
Her friend tried not to laugh.
Maya selected grilled vegetables. The tablet asked whether this was a real order or a table-facing order.
She pressed real. It asked if she wanted her usual three-minute regret period.
Maya turned the tablet away from her friend and changed the vegetables to fries.
The tablet made a cheerful sound and restored the extra sauce without being asked.
Maya complained to the waiter. He said the system learned from every visit.
She asked if it had a setting that forgot her history.
The waiter opened a menu called Privacy. It offered two choices. Delete all data, or Friend Is Watching.
Maya chose the second.
The tablet returned to the salad page, then quietly printed her real order in the kitchen.
Her friend asked what she had chosen.
Maya smiled. Something green.
The tablet called from the table, Green sauce added to your fries.
