Dennis chose the supermarket trolley with the straightest wheels.
The moment he entered the store, it pulled hard toward the bakery.
He dragged it back three times, but it kept turning toward the cakes.
His wife asked, Are you sure the wheel is the problem?….
Dennis said he had tested all four wheels in the car park. The trolley had behaved perfectly until it smelled fresh bread.
They needed milk, onions, soap, and nothing else. His wife held the list while Dennis fought the trolley past a table of doughnuts.
The trolley clipped the corner and one box fell neatly into the basket.
Dennis called it mechanical pressure.
His wife removed the box. The trolley immediately swung toward the cream cakes.
Dennis said the floor must slope.
She took the handle and pushed. The trolley rolled straight past every cake, biscuit, and pastry.
Then Dennis took over. It turned at once and stopped beside the apple pies.
His wife looked down. Dennis’s left hand was pushing while his right hand was quietly pulling.
She asked if he still blamed the wheel.
Dennis picked up a pie and said the trolley had clearly learned his route.
His wife shook her head.
The trolley is fine. It just came with pastry-assisted steering.
