Frank Checks His Shelf with a Level

Frank fitted a shelf and checked it with a spirit level.

The bubble sat far to the left.

He adjusted the shelf three times, but the bubble would not move.

His daughter watched him and asked to inspect the level….

Frank believed every DIY job needed the right tool.

For one shelf, he brought a drill, two screwdrivers, a measuring tape, a pencil and a spirit level long enough to guide an airplane.

He fixed the shelf and placed the level on top.

The bubble sat left.

Frank loosened the screws and raised one side. The bubble stayed left.

He lowered the other side. Still left.

His daughter Emma held the screws while Frank adjusted the shelf a third time.

Now the shelf visibly leaned. The bubble remained stubborn.

Emma asked to inspect the level.

Frank handed it over but warned her not to drop a precision instrument.

Emma turned it around. The bubble now sat far to the right.

She peeled away a small piece of clear tape holding the bubble in place.

Frank stared.

Why was that there?

Emma pointed to the box.

Display model, Dad. Even the bubble was shelved.
