The Station Clock Meeting

Two friends agreed to meet under the station clock at twelve. Rosa arrived at 11:55 and waited.

At 12:20 she phoned Daniel. “Where are you?”

“Under the clock. I’ve been here since noon.”

“So have I.”

Rosa looked around the crowded hall. There were clocks above both entrances and another over the ticket office.

“Which clock?” she asked.

“The one that says twelve,” Daniel replied.

“They all say twelve once an hour.”

“Not this one,” he said. “It’s been broken at twelve for years. That’s why I chose it.”
