The small cinema offered a subtitled screening. Harry asked the usher whether the words would be easy to read.
“They’re at the bottom of the screen,” she said.
Harry chose the front row. Ten minutes into the film, he moved to the middle. Then he tried the back. At the interval, the usher saw him walking toward the exit.
“Still having trouble reading them?” she asked.
“I can read every word,” Harry said. “I’m trying to find a seat where I can see the actors too.”
She offered him the centre row for the second half.
Afterward Harry thanked her. “The ending was wonderful. I finally learned what everyone’s shoes looked like.”
