The Bus Stop Timetable

A tourist studied the timetable at the village bus stop. It listed a bus at 9:10, 9:40 and 10:10. At 9:45 none had appeared.

An older woman sat beside him with a shopping bag.

“Does the bus ever run on time?” he asked.

“Every morning,” she said.

He tapped the timetable. “Then where are the first two?”

She looked at the empty road, then at the timetable. “That’s the summer one.”

“Where’s the winter timetable?”

“In the bus,” she said. “The driver brings it when he arrives.”
