Every Sunday, Dad ran a family quiz. This week his youngest daughter answered the first five questions before he had finished reading them.
‘You’ve been studying!’ he said.
‘Not exactly.’
She answered three more without hesitation. Dad checked the cards and accused her brother of showing them to her.
‘I’ve never seen the cards,’ she said. ‘But you asked the same questions last Sunday.’
‘That’s impossible. I wrote new ones.’
She pointed at the pile in his left hand. ‘Those are new. You’ve been reading from the pile on your right.’
Dad looked at his hands. ‘Then why didn’t anybody stop me?’
‘We wanted to win for once.’
