The Neighborhood Watch

After Ed started a neighborhood watch, he told the street to report anything unusual.

On Tuesday, Mrs Bell called. ‘The man across the road peers through his curtains every half hour.’

On Wednesday, the man called. ‘Mrs Bell has been watching my window with binoculars.’

Ed visited them. Both had notebooks. Each page listed the times the other had looked out.

‘Which one of us is suspicious?’ Mrs Bell asked.

Ed studied their notebooks. ‘Neither. You’ve both put in more patrol hours than everyone else combined.’

‘What should we do now?’

‘For a change,’ Ed said, ‘try watching the street.’
