The Moving Box Labels

On moving day, Ellie asked her husband Dan to label every box clearly so the movers would know where it belonged.

By lunchtime, the hallway was full of boxes marked “HEAVY” in enormous letters. None had a room name.

“How is that supposed to help?” Ellie asked.

“It tells people which boxes need two hands,” Dan said.

Ellie lifted the nearest box with one finger. “This one is full of pillows.”

Dan nodded. “That’s the decoy.”

“Then what’s in the boxes you labeled PILLOWS?”

“Books,” he said. “If the movers find out, they’ll ask me to help carry them.”
