An elderly lady had been feeling quite lonely lately. The house was too quiet, and she decided what she needed was a pet to keep her company.
So off to the pet shop she went.
She walked up and down the aisles looking at puppies, kittens, birds, and even a hamster or two. But nothing really caught her interest.
Just as she was about to leave, she noticed a barrel sitting in the corner. Inside it was the ugliest frog she had ever seen.
As she walked past, the frog suddenly looked up… and winked at her.
Then, in a tiny whisper, it said, “I’m lonely too. Buy me and you won’t regret it.”
The old lady stopped and stared.
“Well,” she thought, “why not? I didn’t find anything else anyway.”
So she bought the frog and took him out to her car.
As she drove down the road, the frog leaned toward her and whispered again, “If you kiss me… you won’t be sorry.”
The old lady shrugged. “What the heck.”
So she gave the frog a little kiss.
POOF!
Instantly, the frog transformed into a tall, handsome, charming young prince.
The prince smiled and kissed the old lady back.
